Raymond Carver

Raymond Carver (1938-1988) was an American short story writer and poet. He published a number of short story collections such as Will You Please Be Quiet, Please (1976), What We Talk About When We Talk About Love (1981) and Cathedral (1983). In 1993, Robert Altman produced the film Short Cuts based on a selection of Carver’s stories which were published as a collection that same year. Carver is said to have been particularly inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s minimalist style and to have given new life to the American short story.
