Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Narayan

Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Narayan (1906-2001) was one of the leading authors of early Indian literature in English and received several awards. Narayan often depicted people and their everyday lives in a fictional town called Malgudi in India with a focus on social context. Famous works are Swami and Friends (1935), Waiting for the Mahatma (1955), The Guide (1958) and A Grandmother’s Tale (1993). Some of his works have been adapted for films both in Hindi and in English. “Another Community” was published in 1967.
